Oscar Stenbom (SE) explores the causes of the European banking crisis in his article ‘The Muddled Tale of European Banking’, which appeared today in the first issue of the official newspaper of Amsterdam2012. This newspaper is written by a press team of 15 journalists, two editorial assistants and one editor, and actively seeks to contribute to the debates and discussions before, during and after the 71st International Session of the European Youth Parliament.

In tandem with the academic preparation done by the delegates, the session newspaper provides an added perspective on the topics discussed at the session. Freedom of speech and debate are core elements of what the European Youth Parliament stands for as an organisation, and the journalists are actively encouraged to take a critical look at the solutions that the delegates come up with during the Committee Work stage of the programme.
